Outdoor

Cathedral Tree Trail
1.6 mile, 393 ft elevation gain
Trail begins at the 2800 block of Irving Ave and ends at the Astoria Column.

Astoria Riverwalk Trail
6.4 mile walking path from the Port to Tongue Point along the Columbia River
You may get to see sealions resting here from the trail.

Youngs River Falls
54 ft high waterfall located 10 miles south of Astoria. Quarter mile trail from parking to the falls is accessible year-round.

Fort Stevens State Park
Located 10 miles west of Astoria, Fort Stevens was built in 1864 and remained an active military installation until 1947. It guarded the mouth of the Columbia River from the Civil War era until the end of World War II.

Museums

Columbia River Maritime Museum
Admission: $18 Adult, $8 Children
The official state maritime museum of Oregon. From their site: ”​The CRMM is a unique combination of experiences where ​an extensive collection of seafaring vessels, maritime artifacts, and fine art come to life through exciting and informative exhibits, demonstrations and hands-on activities.”

Oregon Film Museum
Admission: $6 Adult, $2 Children
Housed inside the old Clatsop County Jail, the Oregon Film Museum has previously been used as a filming location for movies and now celebrates the art and legacy of film and television production in Oregon.

Flavel House Museum
Admission: $7 Adult, $2 Children
As one of the best-preserved examples of Queen Anne architecture in the Northwest, the Flavel House survives today as a landmark of local and national significance. The house was built in 1884-85 for Captain George Flavel and his family. The grounds also contain multiple unique trees and plants.

Heritage Museum
Admission: $5 Adult, $2 Children
The Heritage Museum presents the region’s history through six permanent exhibits as well as temporary and traveling exhibits.

Sightseeing

Astoria Column
Free admission, $5 to park
Built in 1926, 125 ft tall structure with an observation deck only accessible by stairs, 164 steps to be exact. The exterior of the column is illustrated with significant events in the region’s history. This is a really great monument to visit anytime (even if you aren’t climbing to the observation deck) but especially at dusk. You can also walk to the column using the Cathedral Tree Trail.

Liberty Theatre
Historic restored theatre known for showing films, hosting live performances, and events.

Columbia River Cruises
Family owned tour boat company providing unparalleled access to the Columbia River, with a unique experience on a classic maritime vessel.”

Pigeon Steps
A nice viewpoint of the city

Short Circuit House
For fans of the movie Short Circuit.

Bars

Labor Temple Diner & Bar
Historic union hall that serves breakfast, lunch, bar snacks, and drinks.

Gizmo’s Retrocade

Retro arcade games, pinball, prize games, beer, wine, cider, and food.

Galactix
Retro and modern games, beer, cider, snacks, with an interesting interior. Games are cashless though so be prepared to download an app.

Good for breakfast but the Astoria location also offers lunch and dinner menus.
